In the week that marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Irene Rolo Foundation carried out two initiatives, with a view to involving local political decision-makers in the issue of disability. Thus, on December 5th, the Irene Rolo Foundation’s self-determination group met with the president of Tavira City Council, Dr. Ana Paula Martins. The meeting aimed to deliver a document resulting from a survey of some architectural barriers in the city of Tavira, which do nothing to support the autonomy and safety of people with reduced mobility. Still within the scope of the date mentioned above, on December 7th, at the Dr. Eduardo Mansinho Municipal Pavilion, an activity to experiment with different sports, such as handball, boxing and bocce. This initiative was particularly aimed at political decision-makers in the municipality. In an initiative in partnership with local clubs, athletes with disabilities had the opportunity to demonstrate their sporting potential, in an environment of conviviality and sharing.
