On 3 November 2022 the immigrants’ association “Pegadas d’acordo” was created, whose objective is to support the immigrant population and promote its integration, through the development of actions and projects in various areas of intervention.
This initiative was foreseen in the activities plan of the project Tavira Integra+, promoted by the Irene Rolo Foundation, in partnership with Tavira Municipality and financed by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund – AMIF and the High Commission for Migrations, I.P.
Within the scope of this project, around 200 immigrants have already been involved, particularly from Asian countries and Ukraine, in actions such as Portuguese language teaching ateliers, thematic workshops, sports and cultural activities, information sessions with entrepreneurs, among others.
The project team believes that the creation of the association will be fundamental for the sustainability of some of the actions indicated above and will allow to extend the response of the municipality to this population.
